Event Overview
The Stavanger Marathon is an annual running event held on the last Saturday of August in the center of Stavanger, Norway. Organized by the GTI Friidrettsklubb, the event transforms the city center into a festive atmosphere with courses that take participants through local scenic areas including idyllic lakes and coastal fjords.
The event offers several distances to accommodate different preferences:
- Marathon
- Half Marathon
- 5 km
- Children's race
Course and Surface
The routes are designed to showcase the surroundings of Stavanger, featuring a mixture of asphalt and gravel surfaces. The 5 km race starts on the cycle path near Mariero station, which is easily accessible by train. Throughout the course, volunteers are stationed to provide guidance, hydration, and support.
Logistics
Participants can pick up their bib numbers at the Radisson Blu Atlantic Hotel in the days leading up to the race. While it is not possible to increase your registered distance, runners may downgrade to a shorter distance via their personal profile. Start numbers can be sold or transferred within the same distance to other participants. Reduced entry fees are available for specific younger age groups on the 5 km and half marathon distances.
