About the race
The Björn Borg Helsinki Marathon takes place on 22.8.2026 in the center of Helsinki. The event offers several running distances, all designed as a single-loop course through the city streets and coastal areas.
Available distances include:
- Marathon (42.195 km)
- Half Marathon (21.1 km)
- 10 km
- Marathon Relay (4 x 10.55 km)
The marathon, half marathon, and relay start and finish at Meripuisto. The 10 km race starts at Kaisaniemenranta and finishes at Meripuisto. Maximum completion times are set at 6:10 for the marathon, 3:15 for the half marathon, and 1:45 for the 10 km. There are established cut-off points along the routes to ensure participants finish within these time limits.
Registration is open to all runners, with a minimum age requirement of 15 years for the marathon and half marathon distances. The event includes competitive categories for men and women, including age groups from 40 to 70+, and a specific category for non-binary participants.
Aid stations providing water and sports drinks are located approximately every 3-4 km. Pacers are available for various target times across the marathon, half marathon, and 10 km distances. On the Friday preceding the main races (21.8.2026), the event hosts the Kids Run (500 m and 1000 m) and a one-mile street race.
Facilities at the Meripuisto event area include gear storage, dressing tents, and toilets. Participants can utilize showers at Töölö Sports Hall by presenting their race number or medal. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
