About the race
The 41st Wizz Air Budapest Half Marathon is a large-scale international running event held in the capital of Hungary. The course is flat and fast, passing through the heart of the city and several UNESCO World Heritage sites. The event attracts over ten thousand participants from numerous countries, serving as the opening event for the autumn running season in Budapest.
Participants can choose from several distances and categories:
- Wizz Air Budapest Half Marathon: An individual 21.097 km race.
- Half Marathon Relay for 2: Two runners split the distance (12.7 km and 8.4 km).
- Half Marathon Relay for 3: Three runners split the distance (8.3 km, 7 km, and 5.8 km).
- 10 km: A shorter individual race on a flat course with the same start and finish location.
The route includes landmarks such as the Lower Embankment of Buda, Margaret Island, Margaret Bridge, and Liberty Bridge. Live bands and cheering crowds are positioned along the track to support runners.
Registration is available online, with a maximum limit of 18,000 entries for the individual half marathon. Basic requirements include being 12 years of age or older for the half marathon. The entry fee includes a race bib, a technical T-shirt, and a unique finisher medal. Refreshment stations providing water, energy drinks, and fruit are located throughout the course.
The event is accessible by public transport, with the competition center located near the Pázmány Péter Promenade and the ELTE Lágymányosi Campus.
