Zurich Marató Barcelona : overview
The Zurich Marató Barcelona is a city marathon that covers 42,195 kilometres through Barcelona. The route is described as an urban, flat and fast circuit that passes notable façades, towers, avenues and buildings, so the architecture of the city forms a visible part of the race environment.
The event is presented as a race in which the city "runs with" the participants, sharing the course and the atmosphere. Organisers listed include the Barcelona City Council and RPM Sports. The marathon is part of the Barcelona International Sports Events (BISE) platform.
Practical details for participants include the Expo Sports area, where bibs and timing chips are handed out in person on the days before the race. Bibs and chips are not issued on race day. A registered runner may authorise a third person to collect their bib and race bag provided the authorisation and an identity document are presented. Race shirts are distributed by order of arrival at collection and sizes cannot be guaranteed because production is completed before the close of registrations. Not collecting the bib and race bag within the established terms is considered a waiver.
