The Event

The Yukon River Trail Marathon is an annual race organized by the Boreal Adventure Running Association. The 2026 race will be held on Sunday, August 2. Registration is online and opens on March 2.

The Course

The course starts on the Millennium Trail, then travels on single-track trails to Kwanlin (Miles Canyon) and Canyon City. It continues on the Yukon River Trail towards Chadburn Lake, follows trails along Chadden Lake, Schwatka Lake, and Hidden Lakes, and ends near the Whitehorse dam. From there, runners return to the Millennium Trail, run next to the Yukon River (Chu Níikwän), and finish. The scenic run showcases landscapes around Whitehorse.

Volunteering

The event is run by a volunteer board of directors and committees. Volunteers assist with various tasks before, during, and after the race, including directing runners, providing water on course, and logistics. All volunteers receive a small gift and a snack. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
