About the race
STAY; Your Story's Not Over is a community event held in the Village of Baroda, MI, on September 19, 2026. The event offers three options: a 5K Walk, a 5K Run, and a Virtual 5K Walk/Run. Registration for these events opens May 1, 2026 and closes May 31, 2026; the registration fee is $25.00. The organizing group, the Berrien County Suicide Prevention Coalition (BCSPC), seeks to connect Berrien County residents with information and resources for emotional wellness as part of suicide prevention efforts.
The coalition began meeting in December 2012 and later became an advisory committee of Berrien County Mental Health Authority. Meetings are open to the public and are normally held virtually on the third Thursday of the month from noon to 1 pm. The route for the on-site 5K starts on 1st Street heading south toward Menser and follows a series of turns through village streets, including Menser, Hills Road, Ruggles Road, Lemon Creek Road, Cleveland Avenue, Church Street, Fifth Street, Center Street, Fourth Street, and Third Street before returning to 1st Street. The event materials include local and national statistics about suicide: nationally there were over 49,000 deaths in 2022, and more than 1,500 were in Michigan; Berrien County recorded 29 suicide deaths in 2023, with 20 male and 9 female decedents and 12 deaths among ages 26 to 44.
