YoungLife Run & Relay
The YoungLife Run & Relay is a charity endurance event held at Mobberly Baptist Church Williams Lake Pavilion in Longview, TX. The event offers a mix of trail and lakeside running on mountain bike and hiking trails.
Distances offered:
- Half Marathon
- 25K Relay
- 10K Ruck
- 10K Run
- 5K Run
The course uses wide dirt single track trails with roots, ditches, bridges, grass, and gravel around a lake. The course is described as relatively flat and fully marked and supported. Ruck participants must meet weight requirements: those over 150 pounds carry 30 lb, those under 150 pounds carry 20 lb. Ruck sacks or vests are allowed. The event does not provide disposable cups; participants should bring their own water carrying system.
All profits from the event go to Greater Longview YoungLife, a Christian nonprofit that works to build relationships with kids and teens and to share its religious message. Event gear and awards include a finisher medal, event T-shirt, first place awards for each distance by gender, a ruck patch, and a "Dead Freakin' Last" award for the half marathon. The race experience includes aid station food and hydration, on-course photography, and volunteers supporting participants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
