Young Life Flapjack 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run
The Young Life Flapjack 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run is an annual community event held in Columbus, Georgia. The event features two primary distances and includes a pancake breakfast for participants. Both races start and finish at the Young Life Building located at 2750 Sowega Drive.
The distances available for participants are:
- 5 km
- 1 mile
The 1 mile fun run consists of a single loop around Britt David Park, concluding back at the Young Life Building. The 5 km course follows a route that includes turns from Vultee onto Ventura and then onto Stinson.
Participants in the 5 km race are eligible for awards across several categories, including the top three overall male and female finishers, who receive engraved spatulas. Awards are also presented for masters and various age groups ranging from 14 and under to 60 and over. For the 1 mile event, medals are awarded to the top three finishers in two youth age groups, and all participants receive a participation ribbon.
Registration for either distance includes a t-shirt and entry to the pancake breakfast. The event serves as a fundraiser to support middle and high school students from Columbus in attending summer camps.
