The XIT Empty Saddle Race is the 49th annual 5K and 1 Mile running event held during the XIT Rodeo in Dalhart, Texas. The event takes place on August 8, 2026, with the course starting at the Pavilion near the baseball fields in Dalhart (36.04149° N, 102.51233° W).

Registration is online only. Fees listed for the event are $35 for a single race and $45 to enter both races. Registrants who sign up before July 23, 2026 will receive a T-shirt. Entry includes a bib, access to water stations, a runner’s bag, and a medal for all finishers. Volunteers will be available to assist with registration during packet pickup.
Packet pickup is available at the Brickstreet Community Center, 610 Denrock Ave., Dalhart, Texas, on the day before the race and at the Pavilion on race morning. Proceeds from the event benefit the Dallam Hartley Counties Healthcare Foundation and the new Long Term Care Facility.
