WWII Veterans Memorial Trail Weighted Race, October 17, 2026
The WWII Veterans Memorial Trail Weighted Race is the third annual edition of a weighted endurance event held on Mansfield's WWII Veterans Memorial Trail. The format gives competitors a six hour time limit to complete as many laps as they can while carrying any amount of weight they choose.
The course is an out-and-back of at least 2 ½ miles and includes paved, gravel, and grass surfaces. Competitors are weighed at the start and finish of each lap; the lower of the two recorded weights for that lap is multiplied by the lap distance to produce a score in pound-miles, called Kz. For example, carrying 30 pounds over a 2.5 mile lap yields 75 Kz for that lap. Participants may add, reduce, or keep the same weight between laps. To score the final lap it must be completed before the six hour clock expires.
The event takes place on a trail dedicated to the thousands who traveled the former Old Colony Railroad Line from the staging area at Camp Myles Standish in Taunton toward Boston for military embarkation. Rankings from prior years are noted, and the organizer indicates there may be changes to the format or details to be announced later. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
