WWII Veterans Memorial Trail Weighted Race : October 17, 2026
The WWII Veterans Memorial Trail Weighted Race is a six hour event in Mansfield, MA, held on Fruit Street and the WWII Veterans Memorial Trail. This is the 3rd Annual running of the race. The course is an out-and-back of at least 2.5 miles with paved, gravel and grass surfaces.
The race format is a weighted endurance event. Competitors have six hours to complete as many laps as they can while carrying any amount of weight. Each lap is scored by multiplying the lap distance by the weight carried to produce a value called Kz (pound-miles). Packs, plate carriers or other weight are weighed at the start and at the finish of each lap; the lower weight reading is used to calculate Kz for that lap. Competitors may add, reduce or keep the same weight between laps. The final lap must be completed before the six hour time limit to count.
The trail is dedicated to the thousands who passed along the former Old Colony Railroad Line from the staging area at Camp Myles Standish in Taunton to the Boston port of embarkation. The event emphasizes measurable scoring of distance and carried weight over multiple laps on mixed surfaces. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
