WWII Veterans Memorial Trail Weighted Race
The WWII Veterans Memorial Trail Weighted Race is a six-hour timed event in Mansfield, MA. Competitors complete as many laps as possible on an out-and-back course of at least 2.5 miles. The surface includes paved, gravel, and grass sections.
Runners carry a chosen weight each lap. Packs, plate carriers, or other weight systems are weighed at the start and finish of each lap; the lower recorded weight for that lap is multiplied by the lap distance to produce a pound-mile score called Kz. For example, carrying 30 pounds for a 2.5 mile lap yields 75 Kz for that lap. Participants may add, reduce, or keep the same weight between laps. The final lap must be finished before the six-hour clock ends. The competitor with the highest total Kz in each division wins.
This is the third annual running of the event on Mansfield’s WWII Veterans Memorial Trail, a route dedicated to people who traveled the former Old Colony Railroad Line from Camp Myles Standish toward Boston for military service. Organizers note planned changes to the event format and course details that will be announced later. Registration closes on Oct 16 at 11:59 PM ET.
