WVS Cherry Blossom 5 Mile Run : April 26, 2026
The Wyoming Valley Striders present the Cherry Blossom 5 Mile Run at Kirby Park in Wilkes-Barre, PA on April 26, 2026. The main event is a 5 mile chip-timed race. The course starts and finishes in the meadow area of Kirby Park and is an out-and-back over macadam pavement on the dike, described by the organizers as fast and flat. The event is scheduled to coincide with the park's Cherry Blossom Festival.
Registration, logistics and awards
Online pre-registration is required and closes April 24, 2026. Pre-entry fees are WVS members $20 and non-members $25; fees increase on April 1, 2026 to WVS members $25 and non-members $30. Registration is non-refundable and non-transferable. Packet pick-up will take place at the pavilion inside Kirby Park. Runners will receive a commemorative gift (details TBD). If the race is cancelled due to directives by the facility or the WVS, 2026 pre-entries will be deferred to the following year; no refunds will be given.
The race is open to anyone; non-members may purchase a WVS membership online for $12. Safety rules specify no animals, no baby strollers, and no alcoholic beverages in Kirby Park. Awards will be given to the top male and female overall and to the top three males and females in each age group (age groups range from 19 & under through 70 & over).
