About the race
The Würzburger Residenzlauf reported its 36th edition at the end of April 2026 with 10,085 registered participants, the first time the event reached a five‑digit field. The organiser describes it as a major mass‑participation sport event in Lower Franconia.
The event includes dedicated runs for children and schools; in 2026 the combined kindergarten and school runs involved more than 5,000 participants. Together with spectators on the Residenzplatz and along parts of the course, the organiser estimates that over 20,000 people were present over the day.
The race is delivered by a core organising team supported by more than 200 volunteer helpers from clubs and partners, including representatives from the emergency services. The organiser works with long‑term sponsors and is a member of the German Road Races association. Results and starter lists are published on the event pages, and prizes for age group winners and the company classification are being dispatched. The next edition is scheduled as the 37th on 25 April 2027 and registration will open in early December 2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
