Run the Lake at Lake Wörthersee
The Wörthersee Marathon is a running event in Carinthia, Austria, that leads participants around one of the country's most famous lakes. The course is officially AIMS-measured and is part of the World Athletics Global Calendar. The route offers varied terrain, featuring a gently undulating first half along the southern shore and a more rhythmic second half.
Participants can choose from several distances and formats:
- Marathon: A full loop of 42.195 km starting and finishing at Strandbad Klagenfurt.
- Powerade Team-Marathon: A relay format for squads of 2 to 10 people covering the 42.195 km distance with fixed or flexible exchange points.
- The Wild Beauty - 21K: A half marathon (21.0975 km) starting at Strandbad Klagenfurt and finishing at Schlosshotel Velden.
The event is inclusive of different paces, featuring a "Walk the Lake" option for the full marathon distance with a generous time limit of 9 hours. The central hub is the Runner’s Beach Club at Strandbad Klagenfurt, which hosts an expo, yoga sessions, and a shake-out run from Friday through Sunday.
