Worlds End Ultramarathon
The Worlds End Ultramarathon is a trail running event in Worlds End State Park and Loyalsock State Forest near Forksville, Pennsylvania. Routes follow rugged, scenic single-track on the Loyalsock Trail and side trails through narrow gorges, diverse forests, and rocky hollows. The courses pass multiple waterfalls and viewpoints, including named overlooks and cascades, and include rock formations and a wooden ladder beside a falls.
The 100K course is predominantly technical single-track with frequent short climbs, a steepest sustained climb of about 1,000 rocky feet, and an overall elevation gain of roughly 12,000 feet. The 100K has 13 aid stations, four crew-accessible aid stations, three pacer exchange locations, and a 19 hour time limit. The 50K follows much of the same route but shortens the loop, has about 5,800 feet of elevation gain, six aid stations, no crew-accessible stations, no pacers permitted, and a 12 hour time limit.
Organizers require proof of a qualifying race before entry; at minimum this normally means completing a 50K trail race within the advertised cut-off time within the past three years. Race directors reserve the right to select entrants.
Post-race provisions include warm food options such as soups, chili, pulled pork and burgers, with vegetarian and vegan options, and a relaxed atmosphere for recovery. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
