Woodpecker Six : Central City, IA

Woodpecker Six is a six hour endurance run organized by LoKeyz Trail Runners at Linn County Pinicon Ridge Park. The course sits inside the park's heavily wooded area and uses an approximately 1.2 mile trail loop with two large climbs, multiple stairs, and mostly woodland trails. Each loop has about 215 feet of elevation gain.

Runners may run or walk as much or as little as they choose. Course direction changes every two hours so participants experience the trail both ways. The event includes a staffed start/finish area with hot aid station foods and warm and cold beverages. Participants receive a long sleeve race shirt; special awards are given to runners who complete 24 loops or more. Any additional funds are donated to Pinicon Ridge Park for trail improvements.

Woodpecker lodge provides indoor heated space for runner drop bags and outdoor space for canopies and staging. The event proceeds in most weather conditions, including rain or snow. Registration opens June 6, 2026. The last date to guarantee a race shirt is Sunday, October 25. Pets and strollers are not allowed. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
