Woodpecker Six, November 14, 2026

Woodpecker Six is a six hour trail endurance run in Central City, IA, held inside the 966 acre Linn County Pinicon Ridge Park near 4732 Horseshoe Falls Rd. The event uses an approximately 1.2 mile loop on woodland trails.

The loop features two large climbs with multiple stairs and has about 215 feet of elevation gain per circuit. Course direction changes every two hours so participants experience the trail in both directions.

The event format allows participants to cover as many loops as they wish within the six hour window. Aid station provisions include hot foods and warm and cold beverages at the start and finish area. Entrants receive a long sleeve race shirt and special awards are planned for runners who complete 24 loops or more. Additional funds from the event will be donated to Pinicon Ridge Park for trail improvements.

Woodpecker lodge offers heated indoor space for a runner drop bag and outdoor space suitable for canopies and staging. The event will proceed in rain or snow. Registration closes on Wednesday, November 11 at 11:59 PM CT. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
