ROAR Run event details
The ROAR Run is a community running event presented by the Woodland Educational Foundation and the Woodland PTA. It features two race options:
- 1 Mile
- 5K
Pre-registered packet and shirt pickup are scheduled at Woodland Middle School on Thursday, September 10, 2026. The main event takes place on Friday, September 11, 2026, rain or shine. The venue is Woodland Middle School, 7000 Washington Street, Gurnee, IL; participants are asked to use the parking lots on the north side of the school. Strollers are allowed and pets should remain at home.
Entry fees and shirt guarantees are set by date: 5K entry is $40 through August 26, 2026 (increases to $50 for same-day registration), and the 1 Mile entry is $25 through August 26, 2026 (increases to $30 for same-day registration). A t-shirt only option is available for $20 through August 26, 2026. Registrations received on or before August 26, 2026 are guaranteed a race shirt.
The 5K begins and ends behind the middle school, follows Oak Knoll Circle to Pine Oak Lane, then uses trails around the back nine holes of the Bittersweet Golf Course with a short cross-country stretch across the rough before returning to the road. The 5K course is USATF certified (IL-12043-JW). On-course hydration is provided between miles 2 and 3 for the 5K, and water is available at the finish for both distances.
Awards are given to the overall male and female in the 5K and to the top three male and female finishers in specified age categories for both the 1 Mile and 5K. Official timing is provided by It's Race Time. Sponsors will be on site and volunteers are requested for race day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
