Woodhouse Eaves May Day Dash
The Woodhouse Eaves May Day Dash is an inaugural running event organized by the Woodhouse Eaves Scout Group to raise funds for the local organization. The race covers a distance of approximately 11 km through the Charnwood countryside. Participants start and finish at the Woodhouse Eaves Village Hall Car Park.
The course primarily consists of off-road, uneven terrain following public footpaths and bridleways. Runners will navigate approximately 300m of elevation gain throughout the route. From Woodhouse Eaves, the path leads across fields toward Swithland and enters Swithland Woods. The route then skirts Bradgate Park, passes through Lingdale Golf Course, and returns to the village via Windmill Hill.
Participants will encounter several marshalled road crossings and a manned water station along the course. A tail walker is assigned to the event, and a 2-hour cut-off limit is in place for completion. For logistics and safety, the following facilities and services are provided:
- 11 km
- Secure bag drop area
- Toilet facilities at the start and finish
- First aid support
- Manned water station
The event is open to multiple age groups, though participants under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Due to the presence of livestock in the fields along the route, dogs are not permitted to participate or accompany runners. Refreshments, including a BBQ, cakes, tea, and coffee, are available after the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
