Woodhouse Eaves May Day Dash

The Woodhouse Eaves May Day Dash is an inaugural trail running event organized by the Woodhouse Eaves Scout Group. The course covers approximately 11 km of terrain through the Charnwood countryside. Participants start at the Woodhouse Eaves Village Hall car park and navigate a route that includes public footpaths, bridleways, and fields across Swithland and Swithland Woods.

The course features a mixture of off-road and uneven surfaces. Runners will pass by Bradgate Park and through Lingdale Golf Course before returning to Woodhouse Eaves via Windmill Hill. The route includes approximately 300 m of elevation and involves some marshalled road crossings. Due to the presence of livestock in the fields along the route, dogs are not permitted at this event.

Facilities provided for participants include:

  • 11 km trail run
  • Secure bag drop area
  • Toilet facilities at the start and finish
  • Manned water station on the course
  • First aid support
  • Tail walker for all participants

The event has a two-hour cut-off limit. While all ages are welcome to participate, runners under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Following the race, various refreshments are available at the site, including a BBQ, cakes, tea, and coffee. All proceeds from the event help to raise funds for the Woodhouse Eaves Scout Group. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
