Wondai Country Running Festival
The Wondai Country Running Festival is an annual weekend running event in rural Wondai, Queensland, roughly three hours northwest of Brisbane. The 2026 edition is the ninth running of the festival, founded in 2018. Events are based in the centre of Wondai on the South Burnett Rail Trail behind the town hall; all start points are within walking distance of the town centre.
Racing is spread across forest trails and the sealed rail trail. Saturday afternoon offers two forest trail distances that run through McEuen Forest on an undulating cross country course among Spotted Gum and Wattle woodland. Sunday events occur on the fully sealed bitumen South Burnett Rail Trail, with road crossings marshalled by SES volunteers.
Support on course includes first aid, regular toilet facilities and drink stations. Bib collection is organised across the festival weekend, with Sunday pickup available by arrangement. Festival apparel is available for preorder and can be collected with race packs on site. The 21.1 km forest trail is included in the Trail Runners Association of Queensland calendar for event series points.
