WIT 5K on International Day of the Girl Child
Women In Training, Inc. hosts the 7th Annual WIT 5K Run/Walk at Blount Cultural Park in Montgomery, Alabama on October 11, 2026. The event raises funds for the WITKITS campaign to provide menstrual, dental and hygiene supplies, plus menstrual education and leadership opportunities, to underserved girls.
Since its founding in July 2019, WIT has distributed more than 50,000 WITKITS across Alabama. The organization cites an increase in the number of people unable to afford period products after the pandemic and frames the race as a fundraiser to help address that need.
The event offers the following distances:
- 3.1 miles - WIT 5K Run/Walk
- 1 mile - WIT Fun Walk
- 3.1 miles - Virtual WIT 5K (results submitted online; shirt, bib and medal mailed)
All 5K participants receive a participant medal. In-person 5K overall male and female winners receive trophies, and age group winners receive medals in addition to the participant medals. Age groups for awards are 0-12, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+ for both sexes.
Packet pickup is available the day before at the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts and on the event date at Blount Cultural Park. Registrations received by October 1, 2026 guarantee a race t-shirt in the participant's size. Registration fees listed in the event information are $30 for the 5K and virtual 5K and $20 for the 1 mile fun walk. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
