8th Annual WIT 5K on International Day of the Girl Child
Women In Training, Inc. presents a fundraising running and walking event in Montgomery, Alabama on October 9, 2027. The event raises funds to assemble and distribute WITKITS containing menstrual, dental and hygiene supplies, and to support menstrual education and leadership opportunities for underserved girls. Since its founding in July 2019, the organization has distributed more than 50,000 WITKITS.
The event program includes the following distances:
- 3.1 miles, WIT 5K Run/Walk (timed, overall and age group awards)
- 1 mile, WIT Fun Walk
- 3.1 miles, Virtual WIT 5K Run/Walk (shirt, bib and medal mailed)
Registration fees listed for the event are $30.00 for the in-person 5K, $20.00 for the 1 mile fun walk, and $30.00 for the virtual 5K. To guarantee a race t-shirt in a chosen size, registrations must be completed by Friday, September 24, 2027.
Participant recognition for the 5K includes a participant medal for every 5K entrant. In-person overall winners receive trophies, and age group winners receive medals in addition to the participant medal. Age group awards are offered for the following groups for both males and females: 0-12, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+.
