Winter Thaw Out Race Series
A series of four 5K trail races held at Elephant Swamp Trail in Elk Township Recreational Park, Glassboro, NJ, running from 02/28/2027 to 03/21/2027. The trail surface is hard packed and gravel, described as free of roots and non-technical.
Registration information varies by race: registration opens on 09/26/2026 and registration deadlines fall on either 12/13/2026 or 01/03/2027 depending on the event. The listed entry fee is $25.00 per race. A $20 discount is applied automatically for participants who register for all four races at once; the full-series discount requires a single combined registration.
Races are scored on a points system for series standings, with points awarded by finishing position (for example, 10 points for first, 9 for second). Scoring is applied to overall places and age group places. Awards are presented at the end of the series rather than after individual races. Everyone who completes the series receives a medal; overall and age group winners receive awards. Participants who register for the full series receive custom gloves if they sign up by 02/11 to be guaranteed.
Hot chocolate is provided at every race. The park does not have a formal street address; the listed address is for the nearby police station. Elk Township Recreational Park may not appear reliably in some GPS systems; Aura Elementary School is across the street from the park and can be used as an alternate reference. Races are produced by Even Kiel Racing. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
