Wimbledon 10K
The Wimbledon 10K is a road race that starts and finishes at Wimbledon Common next to Rushmere Pond in SW19. The course runs through the streets of Wimbledon and the event base and registration area are located near Rushmere Pond and Kings College. The organiser is RunUk and the standard entry price is listed as 27 GBP.
The event uses chip timing and posts results as runners cross the finish line. All finishers receive a medal and post race refreshments include water, juices, fruit and a chocolate bar. Facilities at the start and finish include toilets, a cordoned free baggage drop area with a recommendation not to leave valuables, an official race photographer on the course, and a medical team based near the start. A short pre race warm up of about ten minutes is provided before the race.
Arrival information notes that Wimbledon station is the nearest rail and tube stop. From the station runners can take the 93 bus toward Putney Bridge and alight at the War Memorial, or walk via Wimbledon Hill Road and High Street to the War Memorial in about twenty minutes. Metered parking is available around Ridgeway and nearby side roads and participants are asked to avoid parking too close to the race headquarters and to show consideration for local residents.
