Williston Marathon
The Williston Marathon is an annual endurance event taking place in Williston, North Dakota. This event is held on the grounds of the Williston Basin International Airport, offering participants the opportunity to run directly on the airport runway. The race functions as a non-profit event, with proceeds supporting the Upper Missouri Relay For Life and the American Cancer Society to assist with local cancer patient care and travel expenses.
Participants can choose from a variety of distances:
- Marathon: A 26.2-mile course and a certified Boston Marathon Qualifier.
- Half Marathon: A 13.1-mile course.
- 10K: A 6.2-mile road race.
- 5K: A 3.1-mile run or walk.
The start and finish lines for all distances are located at the Overland Aviation building on the airport campus. The course features six water stations for the longer distances, providing water, electrolytes, and light snacks. Restrooms are available at the start area and along the route. The event utilizes chip timing to provide race results.
All participants registered for any distance receive a finisher medal and a t-shirt, provided they register by the indicated deadline. Due to road conditions outside the airport gates, strollers are only permitted in the 5K event and are prohibited in the 10K, Half Marathon, and Marathon. No animals are allowed on the course except for service animals. Parking is available on-site for both participants and spectators. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
