Event details
The Chord Energy Williston Marathon takes place on Saturday, June 6, 2026, in Williston, North Dakota. The event is held at Williston Basin International Airport with start and finish at the Overland Aviation building, 14151 Commerce Dr, Williston, ND 58801. It is a non-profit event and proceeds support the Upper Missouri Relay For Life, a fundraising effort for the American Cancer Society. The marathon is a Boston-qualifying course.

All registered participants receive a finisher medal and event t-shirt; registration must be completed by May 10, 2026 to receive a shirt. Packet pickup is scheduled the evening before the race and again on race morning at the event tent.
Course and logistics
The marathon and half marathon routes are marked and the marathon consists of two loops of the published route. The course includes running on the airport runway and uses the airport campus for start/finish and parking. The marathon and half marathon have six water stations, basic first aid, electrolytes, and light refuel options. Restrooms are available at the start line and on the marathon/half route; there are no on-route restrooms for the 5K and 10K. Timing is chip based through Competitive Timing. Strollers are not allowed in the 10K, half marathon, or marathon; only service animals are permitted. Volunteers and signage will direct runners along the route.
