About the race
The Wiley Canyon Ultra takes place on August 29, 2026 in Lexington, Nebraska. The event offers multiple race distances that start and finish at Kirkpatrick Memorial Park.

The 5K and 10K routes use paved and gravel roads, start and finish at Kirkpatrick Memorial Park, and are designated noncompetitive. The ultra is roughly 35 miles, designed to maximize aid station access and to provide an opportunity to complete a first ultramarathon. Trophies are awarded to first, second, and third place finishers in the men’s and women’s Ultra divisions; all Ultra finishers receive a medal.
Course surfaces transition from blacktop in town to gravel roads, with a short section on a minimum maintenance road. Hills are present once the route reaches Wiley Canyon Road. August weather in Nebraska is typically hot and there is little to no shade on course. Aid stations for the Ultra will provide Tailwind Nutrition Endurance Fuel, water, and snacks and will be spaced about 4 to 5 miles apart; there are no aid stations for the 5K or 10K. One drop bag is allowed at the halfway aid station (about mile 17) and must be clearly labeled.
The event is self supported on course: no outside crew or caching is allowed. Shoes are required. Ultra runners must use headlamps prior to sunrise with a 200 lumen minimum. Reflective or high visibility clothing is recommended. Cell service may be limited on Wiley Canyon Road.
