Wiley Canyon Ultra - Lexington, Nebraska - August 29, 2026
Wiley Canyon Ultra is a multi-distance running event held in Lexington, Nebraska. The program includes a roughly 35-mile out-and-back ultramarathon plus shorter noncompetitive 10K and 5K events. All races start and finish at Kirkpatrick Memorial Park and use a mix of paved and gravel roads.
Course and terrain: the ultra begins on town blacktop and transitions to gravel, with a short section on minimum maintenance road through Wiley Canyon. Aid stations on the ultra will offer Tailwind endurance fuel, water, and snack resupply approximately every 4 to 5 miles. One labeled drop bag is allowed at the halfway aid station (mile ~17) and will be transported to the aid station and back to the finish.
Rules and support: the ultra is a self-supported event with no outside crew support allowed. Athletes must stay on or next to the road, follow rules of the road, and avoid littering; violations may result in disqualification. Trophies will be awarded to the top three men and women in the ultra only; all ultra finishers receive finisher memorabilia. A race cutoff enforces an average pace of about 18 minutes per mile.
Safety and equipment: shoes are required. Ultra runners must use a headlamp prior to sunrise with a minimum of 200 lumens and wear reflective or high-visibility items while running in low light.
