Wiley Canyon Ultra
The Wiley Canyon Ultra is scheduled for August 28, 2027 in Lexington, Nebraska. The event includes multiple distances and is based at Kirkpatrick Memorial Park.
- 35 miles out and back ultramarathon
- 10K on paved and gravel roads
- 5K on paved and gravel roads
The ultra course is roughly 35 miles, leaving Lexington and heading north through Wiley Canyon. The route begins on blacktop in town, transitions to gravel, and includes a short section of minimum maintenance road. Hills appear on Wiley Canyon Road and much of the course has little or no shade.
Aid stations for the ultra are placed roughly every 4 to 5 miles and will offer Tailwind endurance fuel, water, and snacks. One drop bag is allowed at the halfway aid station and must be labeled with the runner name and bib. There are no aid stations for the 5K and 10K. The event is self supported; outside support and crew vehicles on course are not allowed.
Equipment and safety requirements include shoes for all runners and headlamps for ultra runners running before sunrise with a minimum 200 lumen output. Athletes must follow the rules of the road, stay to the right, and avoid littering; littering is cause for disqualification.
Trophies are awarded to the top three men and women in the ultra and all ultra finishers receive a medal. Registration includes an event t shirt.
