Wildcat Extra Mile Race

The Wildcat Extra Mile Race is a one-mile running event held in Searcy, Arkansas. The course is fast, flat, and carries a USATF certification (AR 19008WJT). The race begins and ends in front of Harding Academy on East Park Avenue.

The event features several participation options:

  • Heat 1 - Competitive Heat: For runners maintaining a sub-8-minute pace.
  • Heat 2 - Fun Run / Walk: A timed but non-competitive heat for various paces.
  • Virtual Runner or Walker: An option for those who cannot attend in person.

The course layout takes participants down East Park Avenue, passing the Ganus Athletic Center before turning left onto Burks Boulevard. Runners continue along Burks Boulevard to a U-turn point just past Bison Lane, which marks the halfway point. The route then returns along Burks Boulevard and finishes back on East Park Avenue.

All race proceeds are dedicated to supporting teachers and students at Harding Academy. In previous years, these funds have provided playground equipment, bleachers, and classroom technology, as well as supporting arts and sports programs. The event was established in memory of Pam Keese, a former Physical Education teacher at the school.

Participants who register by the mid-April deadline are guaranteed a specific t-shirt size. Packet pickup and registration are available on the morning of the event at the school. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
