Event overview
The Whaley Waltz is a fell race held as part of the annual Whaley Bridge Carnival. It takes place on the final Saturday in June and is organised by Goyt Valley Striders. The course is listed as a British fell race of 5.8M (9.3 km) with 899' (274 m) of climb. Race headquarters are at Whaley Bridge Bowling Club (SK23 7HX), about a five-minute walk from the start.
Race details
Numbers are issued on the day between 11:00 and 12:20. A route map is provided by the organisers and past results are kept for multiple years. Prizes are offered for male and female finishers in overall positions 1st, 2nd and 3rd, for veterans in V40, V50, V60 and V70 categories, and for male and female teams. As part of a climate commitment, competitors are offered a £2 drinks voucher if they travel by public transport, walk, cycle, run to the start, or car share with four or more people.
