Whaley Waltz Fell Race
The Whaley Waltz is a roughly six mile fell race held as part of the annual Whaley Bridge Carnival, normally on the final Saturday in June. It is listed as a British fell race of 5.8 miles (9.3 km) with about 899 feet (274 m) of climb. The organisers note a small twist in the route near the end.
Race headquarters is at Whaley Bridge Bowling Club (SK23 7HX), about a five minute walk from the start. Numbers are issued on the day between 11:00 and 12:20. A route map is provided by the organisers.
Prizes are awarded to the top three female and male finishers, to age-category winners in V40, V50, V60 and V70, and there is a female and male team prize. The club operates a travel incentive: runners receive a two pound drinks voucher if they arrive by public transport, walk, cycle, run to the start, or car share with four or more people.
Event profits are donated to local charities; in 2025 the event donated funds to local causes including a named foundation and the carnival. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
