Whaley Waltz Fell Race

The Whaley Waltz is a fell race run as part of the Whaley Bridge Carnival on the final Saturday in June. The course is a British Schools fell race of about 5.8 miles (9.3 km) with approximately 899 feet (274 m) of climb and includes a shallow twist near the finish.

Race headquarters is at Whaley Bridge Bowling Club (SK23 7HX), a short walk from the start. A route map is published for participants and results for multiple years are available. The club awards prizes to female and male runners for overall places, age categories V40, V50, V60 and V70, and for female and male teams.

The event offers a travel incentive: a £2 drinks voucher for participants who arrive by public transport, who walk, cycle or run to the start, or who car share with four or more people. Profits from the event are donated to local charities; in 2025 the race raised £1,587 for a local foundation and £200 for the Whaley Bridge Carnival.

A revised course was introduced in 2023. Course record times on the new course and on the previous course are recorded in the event results. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
