Westcountry Ultra Flat 50
The Westcountry Ultra Flat 50 is a point to point 50 mile race held on Saturday 8 May 2027 with an entry fee of £70. The route begins on the Taunton to Bridgwater Canal Path, offering about 15 flat miles, then follows the River Parrett Trail before joining the West Somerset Coast Path. The course passes Steart Marshes, skirts Hinkley Point with a marked diversion, runs past the limestone formations at Lilstock and Kilve beaches, goes inland through West Quantoxhead and pine forest, then returns to the coast via Watchet, Blue Anchor and Dunster Beach to finish at West Somerset College, Minehead. Total elevation is listed as 2,128 ft and the race has a 14 hour cut-off.
There are six aid stations positioned approximately at miles 11, 22, 27, 33, 38 and 48. This is a cupless race so participants must carry bottles and a cup if required. Course markings will be used on some inland diversions; the canal, river trail and coast path are largely self-evident. A GPX file will be provided with race information.
Professional medical cover will be in place and further medical instructions are included in pre-race information. Coach transport from the finish to registration is available for a small additional fee. Pacers are not permitted.
