Westcountry Ultra Flat 50 : event details
The Westcountry Ultra Flat is a point-to-point 50 mile race held on Saturday 9 May 2026. Entry fee is £60. The published elevation is -2,128 ft and the cut-off time is 14 hours. Course records are 6:55:43 (male, 2021) and 7:34:38 (female, 2017). The start location is the path beside the river next to the Morrison's car park in Taunton (TA1 1DX) and the finish is at West Somerset College, Bircham Road, Minehead (TA24 6AY).
Course and support
The route begins with about 15 flat miles along the Taunton to Bridgwater Canal Path, then follows the River Parrett Trail and the West Somerset Coast Path with some inland diversions. Notable features include Steart Marshes, a diversion around Hinkley Point power station, Lilstock and Kilve beaches, sections through pine forest and West Quantoxhead, and final miles past Dunster Beach and a cycle path into Minehead. There are six aid stations, approximately at 11, 22, 27, 33, 38 and 48 miles, providing water, coke, squash, sandwiches and snacks. The race is cupless - runners must carry bottles and a cup if required. GPX route data is provided with race information. Professional medical cover is provided and a coach transfer from the finish to registration is available for a small additional fee.
