Event overview
The Westcountry Ultra Flat is a point-to-point 50 mile ultramarathon held on Saturday 9 May 2026. The course has a pancake-flat first half and a more undulating second half. Entry fee is £60. The race has a 14-hour cut-off and six aid stations.
Course records are: male 6:55:43 (2021) and female 7:34:38 (2017). The finish is at West Somerset College, Bircham Road, Minehead, TA24 6AY. The start is beside the river next to the Morrison's car park in Taunton, TA1 1DX.
Course and practical information
The route begins on the Taunton to Bridgwater Canal Path, continues on the River Parrett Trail, runs past Steart Marshes and includes a marked diversion around Hinkley Point. Runners pass Kilve and Lilstock beaches, climb toward West Quantoxhead and Williton, descend to Watchet, follow the coast path to Blue Anchor, cross a rocky section at Dunster Beach, then use a cycle path into Minehead. There are six aid stations offering water, coke, squash, sandwiches, crisps, fruit, nuts and sweets. This is a cupless race - runners must carry at least one 500 ml water bottle and a cup if required. Pacers are not allowed. Support crews are permitted with guidance on parking and meeting points. A very small drop bag to the finish is allowed. Coach transport from the finish to registration is available for an additional £3 per runner.
