Watford Mencap 10K, 5K and 1K Fun Run
The Watford Mencap annual Bank Holiday running event takes place in the grounds of Cassiobury Park, Watford. This event serves as a fundraiser where all proceeds support programs and services for individuals with learning disabilities in the local community. The gathering features multiple distances to accommodate various participation levels:
- 10 km (available to entrants aged 15 and over)
- 5 km (available to entrants aged 11 and over)
- 1 km Fun Run
The 1 km and 5 km routes are described as accessible for all participants. Because the event is held on May 4th, it includes a special prize category for the best dressed Star Wars themed runner.
The event infrastructure includes a Runner’s Village located within the park, accessible via the pedestrian entrance at the junction of Cassiobury Park Avenue and Shepherd’s Road. For those traveling by vehicle, public parking is available at The Gade Car Park, which is approximately a 15 minute walk from the park. Organizers advise that parking restrictions are active on the roads surrounding Cassiobury Park. Warm-up sessions are provided for participants prior to the start of the races.
