Event overview

The Washpool World Heritage Trails is a trail running event on 21–22 March 2026 at Mulligans Campground in Gibraltar Range National Park, NSW. The courses run through World Heritage-listed Washpool and Gibraltar Range National Parks and pass rainforest, granite outcrops and creeks.

All races start and finish at Mulligans Campground. No prior qualification is required.

Courses, logistics and rules

Course details: the 50km is an anti-clockwise loop mostly following the Gibraltar-Washpool World Heritage Walk (+1,250m ascent/descent). The 25km (+450m) follows Little Dandahra Creek, Mulligans Drive and the World Heritage Walk. The 9km (+240m) is a loop including the Tree Fern Forest Walk. Cut-off durations: 50km 10 hours, 25km 5 hours, 9km 2 hours 15 minutes.

Aid stations: stocked with water, soft drinks, snacks and fruit on the 50km and 25km; no aid stations on the 9km (finish line stocked). The 50km has aid stations at 14.2km, 32.5km and 43.5km; drop bags available at 32.5km and the finish. The event is cupless; runners must carry a reusable cup or soft flask. No phone reception on course or at the finish line.

Mandatory gear is checked at bib collection and must be carried; items include a charged mobile phone with the Emergency Plus app, water capacity (minimum requirements vary by distance), snake bandage, space blanket and whistle. Finishers receive a Washpool hat; no medals are awarded. Minimum ages: 50km 18 years, 25km 14 years, 9km 12 years. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
