Wapiti Bush Run (2026)
The Wapiti Bush Run takes place at the Gronlid Cross Country Ski Trails in Fort à la Corne Island Forest, near Melfort, Saskatchewan. The event was founded in 2015 by a local coach and uses trails maintained year round by the Melfort Cross Country Ski Club.
Available distances:
- 2.5 km Wild Ones Fun Run : Cabin to Skate Trail loop, gentle, little elevation.
- 5.5 km Race/Run/Jog : Ridge Trail to Skate Trail loop, includes climb to Ridge Trail.
- 8.5 km Race/Run/Jog : Ridge to Jackpine to Skate Trail, includes hilly sections and rollers.
The venue offers mixed boreal forest, aspen groves, pine stands and elevated views from the Ridge Trail. Organizers state nearly 20 km of trails are maintained and that proceeds support trail infrastructure and nature conservation at the site.
Early Bird and General registrations include a hot lunch with dessert, a beverage, and a swag bag with a signature Wapiti Bush Run toque for eligible entries. Race packages are available for pickup on the morning of the event and a pre-race briefing will be held at the start/finish area. Post-race refreshments and a luncheon at Gronlid Hall are planned, and medals will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers in the 8.5 km and 5.5 km races.
The event is sanctioned by Saskatchewan Athletics. All registrations are final; optional registration refund protection is offered during the registration process. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
