Walking Tall 50/25K : Big Hill Pond State Park, Pocahontas, TN
Walking Tall is a trail event scheduled for October 17, 2026 at Big Hill Pond State Park near Pocahontas, Tennessee. The event offers two distances that run largely on single-track trail with only short sections of park road. Course features include a fire tower with an option to climb to the top for a special challenge coin, and a swamp boardwalk that spans over half a mile.
- 50K (about 31 miles) mostly single-track trail
- 25K (about 15.5 miles) mostly single-track trail
The 25K has full aid stations at miles 6.5, 9.6, and 12.5. The 50K follows the same route as the 25K until the split and then continues on the opposite side of the park; full aid stations and a drop bag location are listed at miles 15.5 (drop bag), 18.4, 23.0, 26.1, and 27.5. The event enforces time limits: an eight hour cut for the 25K and a nine hour cut for the 50K; the only course checkpoint noted as a strict cut is at the inbound railroad tracks at mile 26.1.
The event is organized as a not for profit with 100% of proceeds to charity, allocated 90% to Big Hill Pond and 10% to the Tennessee Park Rangers Association.
