Wachusett Mountain Race

The Wachusett Mountain Race takes place annually on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend at Wachusett Mountain, located in Princeton and Westminster, Massachusetts. This event is a featured part of the USATF-NE Mountain Series and the New England Mountain Circuit. The race offers two distinct distance options:

  • 3 miles
  • 10 km

The 3 mile course consists of an uphill road climb starting from the parking lot and finishing at the mountain summit. This segment is officially scored for the USATF-NE Mountain Circuit. Participants who choose the 10 km option complete the initial ascent to the summit and then continue back down the mountain using a combination of roads and trails. Both distances are available for a single entry fee.

Event amenities include free parking situated in the Ski Lodge Parking Lot. Registration and bib pick-up take place at tents located within the parking area. The first 400 registered participants receive a collectible race mug. Cash prizes are awarded to the top male, female, and non-binary finishers at both the summit and the 10 km finish line. Age group awards are also provided for categories ranging from under 19 to over 80 years old.

The event is organized by the Central Mass Striders and directed by the CMS Ladies Racing Team. In preparation for the event, training runs are held on Wednesday evenings starting in late April or early May, once snow has cleared from the auto road. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
