Wachusett Mountain Race
The Wachusett Mountain Race takes place the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend at Wachusett Mountain in Princeton and Westminster, Massachusetts. The event is part of the USATF-NE Mountain Circuit and offers two course options that start at the summit approach and use the mountain roads and trails.
Participants may choose between:
- 3 Mile uphill road climb to the summit.
- 10K continuation from the summit down the mountain on roads and trails.
Registration and bib pick-up are conducted at tents in the parking lot. Free parking is provided in the ski lodge parking lot at Wachusett Mountain. A course map is available on Strava. The first 400 registered entrants receive a collectible race mug. Cash prizes are awarded to the first male, female, and non-binary finishers for each distance: $50 for the 3 Mile summit finish and $150 for the 10K finish; prizes are also awarded to the top three finishers in standard age groups from 0-19 through 80+.
The event is organized by Central Mass Striders, directed by the CMS Ladies Racing Team, and benefits the team’s competitive racing efforts. Annual Wa-Wa-Wednesday training runs precede the race; the 2026 training runs are scheduled to begin in late April or early May once the auto road is clear of snow.
