Vlakte Marathon, Half Marathon and 10.4 km : Heidelberg, Western Cape
The Vlakte event on 21 November 2026 offers road races that start in the Heidelberg area and finish in Witsand. Distances available include:
- 42.2 km marathon
- 21.1 km half marathon
- 10.4 km race
- 5 km fun run
Entries are processed online with published entry fees for each distance; temporary license fees apply where noted. Bus transport is available between start points and the finish line; bus tickets cost R50 and are purchased when registering. A timing chip is used for official results and chip failure means no result. Distance markers are placed every kilometre and refreshment stations are provided at roughly 3 km intervals. Ablution and first aid services are available at the start and finish areas.
Medals are awarded to finishers in the 5 km and 10.4 km races; medal and time standards are specified for marathon and half marathon placings. Prize categories include open and age-group awards with cash prizes for top finishers and age-group winners. Race rules follow WA, ASA and ASWD regulations; club colours and license number display requirements apply. Cut-off times are enforced for each distance.
