Virgil Crest Ultras
Virgil Crest Ultras is a trail ultramarathon held in Cortland, NY near 2245 Clute Rd. The event offers multiple distance options:
- 100 Miler
- 100 Mile Relay
- 50 Miler
- 50K
The course features steep ascents and descents, significant cumulative elevation gain and loss, singletrack forest, and technical trail sections. Sunrise views are noted at the crest of the opening climb. Weather can increase the difficulty of these terrain features.
Organizers plan a notable change to the course compared with prior years and intend to publish maps and updates once details are final. The 100 mile distance has a 36 hour cutoff measured from the official start. Aid station cutoffs and additional course specifics will be posted when the full course is released.
Rules and logistics mentioned for entrants include allowance of poles for all distances and permission for pacers in the 100 mile field at or after 50 miles or at nightfall. Poles left at aid stations must fit inside a drop bag for transport. The start and finish area is confirmed as crew accessible and at least one additional crew accessible station will be available along the course.
