Veterans 5K Run & Walk
The event is a community 5K at Rock Valley College in Rockford, Illinois, held to benefit the Veterans Drop-In Center. This is the 14th annual edition and the course is USATF certified (IL26022NM). The event is included in the 2026 RRR Circuit Race.
Distances offered:
- 5K Run and Walk
- 5K Ruck division
- 5K Kids race for ages 17 and under
- 400 yards Kids Fun Run for ages 10 and under
The 5K Ruck requires participants to carry a rucksack for the entire 5K. Weight guidelines: participants over 150 lb carry 20 lb; participants under 150 lb carry 10 lb. The ruck division awards only overall first place male and female; there are no age group awards for the ruck.
Registration fees are stated as $35 for standard participants and $15 for children 17 and under. A $3 discount applies for RRR members and is not applicable to the youth price. Shirts are guaranteed only for participants registered by 9/25/26. Hoodies will be available for purchase at packet pickup and on race day.
Awards include dog tag medals for top overall male and female and top three male and female in each age group, cash awards for overall and special categories, and age group prizes across categories from 0–8 through 80+. One award is given per person. No inline skates or dogs are permitted. Timing is provided by Tri-3 Sports Timing. Volunteer opportunities are offered at no cost and volunteers will be placed by the organizers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
