Vanessa T. Marcotte Foundation 5K Run/Walk
The Vanessa T. Marcotte Foundation 5K Run/Walk is held at the Wachusett Mountain Ski Area in Princeton, Massachusetts. This event marks the tenth anniversary of the race, which raises funds for safety awareness, violence prevention, and gender equality programs. The foundation focuses on self-protection training and mentorship opportunities to address the root causes of violence against women.
The event offers several participation options:
- 5K
- 100 Yards Kids' Fun Run
- Virtual 5K
The physical 5K course is primarily flat with one small hill. Participants are permitted to use strollers during the run or walk. The 100 Yards Kids' Fun Run is designed for children aged 3 to 10, and all participants in this category receive prizes. For those unable to attend in person, the Virtual 5K allows runners to participate from any location. Virtual participants can join a dedicated Strava club to track their activities and view opening remarks via a live social media broadcast.
On-site amenities include a post-race gathering featuring a DJ, food, ice cream, and beverages. Attendees can participate in a raffle with over 30 items or bid in a silent auction that is also open to remote participants across the United States. Awards are presented to the top overall male and female finishers, as well as the top finishers in age categories ranging from under 18 to over 70.
