Uniformed Services Run
The Uniformed Services Run is part of the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Marathon Weekend and is hosted by Athletics NorthEAST Running Club. The event is NLAA accredited and course certifications for the marathon, half marathon, 10k and 5k are in progress.
The race weekend is listed for September 12 and 13. Organizers introduced a new course for 2026 described as safer and easier to set up, with lower elevation gain, a 50% increase of distance in the park, and added opportunities for supporters to follow runners. The new layout also allowed the addition of a 5k event.
Distances offered:
- Marathon
- Half Marathon
- Marathon Relay
- Quidi Vidi Brewery 10k
- 5k
- 1k Kids Fun Run and 3k Family Fun Run
Registration opens April 1 and closes September 10; the "shirt in kit" deadline is July 26. Published fees for 2026 include marathon $95, half marathon $70, marathon relay $55, 10k $45 and 5k $40. Fun runs are free and discounts are available for uniformed service members. Events over race weekend include kit pickup, family fun runs and an awards reception.
All proceeds from the USR are donated to the charity chosen by the previous year's Battle of the Badges winner. The Canadian Coast Guard were the 2024 winners; their designated charity Candelighters NL received over $8,000 from the 2024 USR. The event also references past results and photos from prior years.
