Trail Running in Tapalpa
The Ultra Trail Tapalpa is the flagship event of the Ultra Trail Mexico Series, held in the Pueblo Magico of Tapalpa, Jalisco. The event takes place over two days and features routes that traverse pine, oyamel, ash, and oak forests. Participants run through varied terrain including valleys, mountain trails, and the distinctive large rock formations known as "Las Piedrotas."
The competition offers several distances to accommodate different preferences:
- 50 km (Rokosa): Features a 1,900 m elevation gain, passing through Ferrería de Tula and Rincón Viejo.
- 30 km (Kometa): Includes a 1,050 m elevation gain, reaching the highest point of the course before descending to the valley.
- 15 km (Lakanija): A technical route with a 780 m elevation gain and fast descents.
- 10 km (Media Luna): A night race with a 600 m elevation gain through forested areas.
- 6 km: An accessible route with 160 m elevation gain, including a pet-friendly category.
The event includes an Expo Trail Fest, various activations, and specific races for children and families. Registration is handled directly through the website on a first-come, first-served basis until capacity is reached.
