About the race
Les 4 Massifs is an Ut4M event that takes place around Grenoble. The edition is announced for 15 to 18 July 2027, with registrations opening in mid December 2026. The event highlights the four mountain massifs that surround the Grenoble area. The four massifs are presented for their varied geology, landscapes and outdoor uses.
Vercors is described as a karstic territory with plateaus and steep gorges, access routes carved in rock, and both winter and summer infrastructures. Winter activities include Nordic ski sites such as Autrans and Méaudre and alpine ski areas like Lans and Villard de Lans. In summer the same places are used for mountain biking, hiking, climbing and caving. Taillefer is noted as the smallest of the four massifs, geologically linked to Belledonne, with a summit at 2857 m and wide views toward Grenoble, Chamrousse and the Ecrins.
The massif hosts stations such as Alpe du Grand Serre and the Col d Ornon, and offers hiking, via ferrata, cycling and mountain biking, plus a guarded mountain refuge. Belledonne comprises about 54 mountain communes and a range of forest, alpine pasture and summit environments and is named as one of the territories featured by Ut4M. Chartreuse spans 200 to 2082 m, is a Parc naturel régional and supports trail infrastructure. The territory reports about 1300 km of maintained footpaths and a local station of trail with coaching and testing, and it promotes eco-trail practices and route management for events.
