Thames Bridges Trek (Sat 12 Sept 2026)
The Thames Bridges Trek is a walk-only event along the River Thames in London. The route runs east from Putney Bridge to Tower Bridge and finishes in Southwark Park. The organiser lists an expected field of 2,500 walkers. Participants receive a medal, a finisher T-shirt, a glass of fizz and a picnic at the finish.
Route, distances and support
- 25 km - Putney Bridge to Tower Bridge, crosses 16 bridges, flat route following the Thames
- 10 km - starts at The Oval Cricket Ground, flat walking route
A mid-point rest stop is located at The Oval Cricket Ground (about 12.5 km) offering pastries, fruit, snacks and hot drinks. The finish includes a picnic. The route is fully signed with distance markers and GPS tracking; chip timing is used to track progress through rest stops. Covered rest stops, medical teams, podiatrists and massage services are provided.
Logistics and entry
Start and finish locations have good public transport links; there is no official parking at the start or finish. Nearest tube stations listed include Putney Bridge, Oval, Vauxhall, Bermondsey, Canada Water and Surrey Quays. The event is walking/trekking only - running or jogging is not permitted. Entry can be self-funded or charity-funded with several registration options and different fee structures; a young persons discount applies for those aged 21 or under (age minimums apply).
