Thames Bridges Trek : event overview
The Thames Bridges Trek is a supported walking event in London on Sat 12 Sept 2026. The route follows the River Thames eastwards from Putney Bridge toward Tower Bridge and finishes in Southwark Park. The event offers two distances:
- 25 km - Putney Bridge to Tower Bridge, crosses 16 bridges.
- 10 km - starts at The Oval Cricket Ground, finishes Southwark Park.
Organisers state the event typically involves about 2,500 walkers. The 25 km route is described as flat, following the river. The challenge is walking/trekking only; running or jogging is not permitted and runners may be disqualified.
Route support, facilities and entry options
There are rest stops roughly every 12.5 km, with a mid-point stop at The Oval Cricket Ground offering pastries, fruit, snacks and hot drinks, and a finishers picnic at 25 km. Rest stops include covered seating, toilets, medical teams and baggage services. The event provides a signed route, GPS tracking and chip timing, plus on-site medics, podiatrists and massage support. Finishers receive a medal, a finisher T-shirt and a glass of fizz.
Public transport links are noted: nearest Tube to the 25 km start is Putney Bridge; 10 km start near Oval or Vauxhall; finish near Bermondsey, Canada Water and Surrey Quays. Entry can be self-funded or via charity funding options; example fees shown are £89 for the 25 km self-funded place and £39 for the 10 km self-funded place.
