UF Health Jacksonville's Turkey Trot 5K is an annual fundraising run for Brain Injury Awareness held in Atlantic Beach, Florida. The event includes a competitive 5K and a 1-mile fun run. Race packet pick-up is available Tuesday and Wednesday, November 25 and 26 at One Ocean Resort & Spa (10:00 AM to 6:00 PM) and on race day in the Solaria Room. All participants receive finisher medals. Awards include overall male and female, masters and grand-masters categories, team awards for largest team, a costume contest, and top-three awards in multiple 5K age groups (10 and under; 10-14; 15-19; then five-year bands up to 80 and over).
Use of proceeds and supported programs
Proceeds support UF Health Jacksonville programs for traumatic brain injury care and recovery. Past funds have supported over 100 patients with housing and transportation, funded 44 patients for an equine program, purchased Transcranial Doppler and intracranial ultrasound equipment, provided video laryngoscopes, funded staff training, and supported local brain injury clubhouse programming and trauma prevention education.
