Two Hollows Monster Marathon and Half Marathon
The Finger Lakes Runners Club stages a trail marathon and half marathon on well‑maintained routes in the western section of Kennedy State Forest between Virgil and Harford, New York. The event uses a compact double out and back course; half marathoners run a 13.1 mile loop and marathoners run the loop twice. The half marathon has about 2,200 feet of elevation gain and the full marathon about 4,400 feet.
The trails feature long rolling single track, twists, several notable hills including one in the final two miles of each 13.1 mile loop, shady hemlock groves, fern‑carpeted hardwood forest, and occasional long views. Aid stations are placed about every 3 to 4 miles and port‑a‑potties are available near the start and finish. This is a cupless race; all runners must carry a personal hydration system.
The event uses age and gender based staggered head starts calculated from World Masters Athletics age‑graded tables and includes a nonbinary category. Results and awards factor in those adjusted start times. The marathon has checkpoint cutoffs while the half marathon does not. Online pre‑registration is required; there is no same day or in‑person race registration. Parking is on Adams Road with all wheels off the pavement. No dogs, headphones, or jogging strollers are allowed.
A participation award is provided and top finishers in each distance receive awards. A postrace lunch is provided for participants and volunteers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
