About the race
The Turkey Trot for a Cure is the 16th annual 5K Walk/Run held in November to coincide with National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness month. The event takes place at the Morehead Conference Center in Morehead, KY, and features a community-focused morning with a health fair, refreshments, and educational programming on Alzheimer’s disease.
The race distance is 5K (3.1 miles). Race packets include a commemorative shirt and a race bib. Early bird registration ends October 24, 2026; registrations submitted after that date are not guaranteed a t-shirt. Registration for the 5K lists a fee of $25.00 and follows a tiered pricing schedule.
Proceeds benefit the Sisters of Notre Dame Eastern Kentucky Foundation Alzheimer’s and Dementia Caregiver Fund, with funds directed to support local families and caregivers in the event service region. The program also includes a slideshow to honor loved ones. Additional participant options noted by the organizer include direct donations, volunteer roles, and business sponsorships with sponsor logos featured on the back of race shirts.
