Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk - Alpena, MI
The Tunnel to Towers 5K in Alpena is a community 5K run and walk held on September 12, 2026, that honors those lost on September 11, 2001 and supports first responders and members of the military. This is the sixth year the event is held in Alpena.
The course is a 5K (3.1 miles) suitable for running or walking. Participation is open to the public. Strollers and wheelchairs are permitted, and firefighter turnout gear and military backpacks may be worn by participants. Each participant must display their bib on the front of the outermost garment; participants without a bib will be asked to leave the course.
Registration is offered in multiple categories with set fees: adults, first responders and military, youth 13 to 17, and children 12 and under. Day of registration is available for an additional fee and late registrants may not receive a shirt or guaranteed size. Registration fees do not count toward fundraising totals; registrations may be transferred to another person but are not refundable.
Packets are available at the Alpena Bandshell the day before and the morning of the event. Water will be available along the route and at the bandshell. An Emergency Medical Service team and radio communication will be on site. Donations and fundraising pages are supported, and donations are accepted for a period after the event.
