Event Overview

True Grit WA 2026 takes place at the Linga Longa Estate along the Blackwood River in Southampton. This military-inspired obstacle course is set within a rugged landscape and features a variety of physical challenges. The event is scheduled for October 17 and 18, 2026. Participants navigate the course through a series of waves starting every five minutes to maintain flow.

The course utilizes the natural terrain and includes specific obstacle designs such as:

  • 10 km Elite - A timed competitive wave for participants aged 16 and over.
  • 10 km - The standard course for those aged 16 and over, featuring over 30 obstacles.
  • 5 km - A shorter version for participants aged 12 and over, containing more than 15 obstacles.

Course Features

Obstacles are designed to be completed at a basic fitness level, and the course involves running, crawling, and climbing. Specific challenges include A-frames, rope traverses, monkey bars, walls, pontoon bridges, and sandbag carries. While water is typically provided at a station around the halfway mark, participants are encouraged to carry their own hydration packs if needed.

Practical Information

The venue offers on-site camping options, including unpowered caravan spots and general camping areas. Toilets and showers are available for campers. Parking is provided on-site for a fee of $10 per vehicle. A bag drop service is also available for a small donation.

Participants receive a finisher shirt, electrolyte drink, and an optional finisher beer upon completion of the course. Spectators can access the event site without an entry fee.

Participation Options

Registration is available for solo participants or teams. For those running alone, the Black Dog Wave is an option designed for individuals to meet others and move through the course together. The Elite wave, held on Saturday morning, is the only timed category and includes specific rules, such as a penalty of 20 burpees for any failed or skipped obstacles.
