Freedom Run Presented by UnityPoint Health

The Freedom Run Presented by UnityPoint Health is a community running event in East Moline, Illinois, held along 15th Avenue and nearby neighborhoods. The event uses military-themed elements throughout the course and finish area.

Distances and event types:

  • 5K Run/Walk
  • Tyson Double-Time Loop, 5.8 miles
  • 1 Mile Run/Walk
  • IHMVCU Brigade Kids Races
  • Ground Pounder Fun Run
  • M.I.A Division (support packet option)

The 5K route passes through the St Anne Church, Hillcrest School, Mitchell Park neighborhoods, by Ridgewood School, and returns downtown. The 5K course includes one hill with two gradual inclines and a longer downhill before the finish. The Tyson Double-Time Loop follows the same route twice for an actual distance of 5.8 miles; participants in that event may be diverted to the 5K finish if they do not reach the three-mile marker within the stated cutoff. The 1 Mile course is an extremely flat out and back on 15th Avenue.

The Ground Pounder Fun Run is a kid-friendly obstacle course that is not timed; participants receive a Freedom Run t-shirt at packet pick up and dog tags at the finish. Registrations are final with no refunds or transfers. Registrants who register by July 15 are guaranteed a t-shirt and size and M.I.A packets will be mailed when eligible.

Proceeds have benefited the Trinity Veteran's Outreach Program, the AUSA, and USO Rock Island programs and services for military members and families in the Quad Cities area. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
