Event overview
The Freedom Run Presented by UnityPoint Health is scheduled for August 13, 2026 in East Moline, Illinois, at 733 15th Avenue. The event is military themed and honors members of the Army, Coast Guard, Marines, Air Force, and Navy. Features described by the organizer include an authentic Civil War cannon to start the race, a WWII Army jeep used as the pace car, military vehicles along the course, and more than 100 American flags placed along the route. Participants receive a military-themed T-shirt and dog-tag medals at the finish. Proceeds have benefited the Trinity Veteran's Outreach Program, the AUSA, and USO Rock Island programs and services for military families in the Quad Cities community.
Race options and course details
- 5K Run/Walk: Route goes through St Anne Church, Hillcrest School, Mitchell Park neighborhoods, past Ridgewood School, then returns downtown. Course includes one hill with two gradual inclines and a long downhill before the finish.
- Tyson Double-Time Loop - 5.8 miles: Same route as the 5K with two loops; actual distance is 5.8 miles. Participants must reach the 3-mile marker by no later than 33 minutes or be diverted to finish the 5K.
- 1 Mile Run/Walk: Extremely flat out-and-back course on 15th Avenue.
- IHMVCU Brigade Kids Races and Ground Pounder Fun Run: Kid-friendly events; the Ground Pounder is a non-timed obstacle course that awards a T-shirt at packet pick up and dog tags at the finish.
- M.I.A. Division: For supporters who cannot attend; registrants receive a T-shirt and special edition dog tags.
