Event Details
The Freedom Run presented by UnityPoint Health is a military-themed running event held in East Moline, Illinois. The event aims to honor and support local military personnel and their families.
Race Distances
The event offers several race distances:
- A 5K run/walk course with one hill featuring gradual inclines and a fast downhill.
- The Tyson Double-Time Loop, a 5.8-mile extension of the 5K route.
- A flat, out-and-back 1-mile run/walk.
- The IHMVCU Brigade Kids Races, a kid-friendly obstacle course known as the Ground Pounder Fun Run.
- A non-participatory MIA Division for supporters who cannot attend.
Military Theme
The event features a strong military atmosphere throughout. It starts with an authentic Civil War cannon. Participants receive military-themed t-shirts and "dog-tag" medals presented by real soldiers at the finish line. Military vehicles are present on the course, which is also lined with over 100 American flags.
Registration and Support
A t-shirt and size are guaranteed for registrations made by July 15. Event proceeds benefit local military support programs, including the Trinity Veteran's Outreach Program, AUSA, and USO Rock Island. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
