TRI Clear Lake : Clear Lake, Iowa
TRI Clear Lake is a USA Triathlon sanctioned triathlon hosted by the Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce in Clear Lake, Iowa on August 29, 2026, with race weekend activities the day before. The course starts and finishes lakefront downtown. The open-water swim begins at City Beach. The bike leg follows a flat and fast one or two loop out and back route along South Shore Drive. The run is either a 3.1 mile or 6.2 mile route on North Shore Drive that passes the Surf Ballroom and returns to a lakeside finish in City Park.
Race distances:
- Olympic distance: 1,500 meter swim, 24.8 mile bike, 6.2 mile run
- Sprint distance: 500 meter swim, 12.4 mile bike, 3.1 mile run
Racers are divided by gender and age group, with age brackets from 19 and under through 70 and older. Clydesdale and Athena divisions are optional for heavier athletes. Relay teams of two to three people are allowed. Awards are given to the top three overall male and female finishers and to top three finishers in each category. The event requires USA Triathlon membership or a one day permit; a one day permit fee is added for nonmembers. Packet pickup is held the day before the race and athletes must collect their own packets. If the swim is cancelled for safety reasons, the event will run as a duathlon with run, bike, run.
