TRI Clear Lake, Clear Lake, Iowa
TRI Clear Lake is a USA Triathlon sanctioned triathlon hosted by the Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce on August 29, 2026. The race starts at City Beach and finishes lakeside in City Park downtown. The bike course is a flat one- or two-loop out-and-back along South Shore Drive. The run is held on North Shore Drive and returns to a lakeside finish near the Surf Ballroom and City Park. If the swim is cancelled for safety reasons, the event will be run as a duathlon with a run-bike-run format.
The event includes these race distances:
- Olympic Distance: 1,500 meter swim, 24.8-mile bike, 6.2-mile run
- Sprint Distance: 500 meter swim, 12.4-mile bike, 3.1-mile run
Race options include individual sprint and Olympic distances, relay teams of two to three people, and a PRO/Elite Olympic distance race. Racers are grouped by gender and the following age categories: 19 and under, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, and 70 and older. Clydesdale and Athena divisions are available for men 220 pounds or more and women 165 pounds or more.
Packet pickup is scheduled the day before the race; athletes must pick up their own packets and show photo identification. USAT annual members must present membership cards; nonmembers will be charged a one-day USAT permit fee. Timing chips are issued the morning of the event and a replacement fee applies for unreturned chips. Awards are given to top overall finishers and the top three in each category.
