TRI Clear Lake Triathlon - Clear Lake, Iowa
TRI Clear Lake is a USA Triathlon sanctioned event hosted by the Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce. The race uses a lakefront start and finish in downtown Clear Lake with the swim beginning at City Beach and the run finishing at City Park along North Shore Drive.
The event offers two main individual race distances and a youth aquathlon. The courses include a flat, one-or two-loop bike route that is described as fast and out-and-back along South Shore Drive, and a run course that follows North Shore Drive past the Surf Ballroom.
Distances:
- Olympic distance: 1,500 m swim, 24.8 mi bike, 6.2 mi run
- Sprint distance: 500 m swim, 12.4 mi bike, 3.1 mi run
Racers are divided into male and female age groups and may also register in Clydesdale and Athena divisions based on weight thresholds. A relay division for two to three person teams is available. Awards are given to top finishers overall and within categories.
Packet pickup takes place the day before the race and requires photo ID; USA Triathlon annual members must present their membership card or pay a one-day permit fee if they are nonmembers. If the swim is cancelled for safety reasons the race converts to a run-bike-run format. A youth Splash and Dash for ages 7 to 15 features separate junior and senior distances with lifeguards and on-course volunteers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
