TRI Clear Lake
TRI Clear Lake is a USA Triathlon sanctioned sprint and Olympic distance triathlon hosted by the Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce in Clear Lake, Iowa. The event is scheduled for Saturday, August 29, 2026, with a lakefront start and finish in downtown Clear Lake.
The swim starts and finishes at City Beach. The bike course is a flat, one- or two-loop route along South Shore Drive. The run takes athletes along North Shore Drive past the Surf Ballroom and returns to a lakeside finish in City Park. Aid stations are located near mile 1 and mile 2 on the run course.
Distances:
- Olympic: 1,500 meter swim, 24.8 mile bike, 6.2 mile run
- Sprint: 500 meter swim, 12.4 mile bike, 3.1 mile run
Racers are divided by gender and age groups; Clydesdale and Athena divisions are available for men 220 pounds or more and women 165 pounds or more. Relay teams may consist of two or three persons. Top three overall male and female finishers and top three in each category for each distance receive awards.
Participants must be USAT annual members or purchase a USAT one day permit. Packet pickup is held the day before the race and athletes must pick up their own packets with photo ID. Timing chips are distributed on race morning; unreturned chips incur a $30 charge. If the swim is cancelled for safety reasons the event will be run as a duathlon with run-bike-run.
