TRI Clear Lake : Clear Lake, Iowa
TRI Clear Lake is a USA Triathlon sanctioned triathlon hosted by the Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce on August 29, 2026. The race starts and finishes in downtown Clear Lake with the swim beginning at City Beach. The bike course is described as flat and fast, offered as one or two loops that run out and back along South Shore Drive. The run follows North Shore Drive, passes the historic Surf Ballroom, and finishes lakeside in City Park.
Race distances include:
- Olympic distance: 1500 meter swim 24.8 mile bike 6.2 mile run
- Sprint distance: 500 meter swim 12.4 mile bike 3.1 mile run
A youth Splash and Dash for ages 7 to 15 is part of the event. Juniors aged 7 to 10 complete a 100 meter swim and 1 kilometer run. Seniors aged 11 to 15 complete a 200 meter swim and 2 kilometer run. Youth participants receive a finisher medal, visor, and fitness towel, and the kids’ swim exit and transition are at City Beach and City Park.
Racers are divided into age and gender categories; Clydesdale and Athena divisions and 2- to 3-person relays are offered. The event is sanctioned by USA Triathlon and nonmembers must purchase a one-day permit. Chip timing is used and unreturned chips incur a replacement fee. If the swim is canceled for safety reasons, the event becomes a run-bike-run duathlon. Volunteers are scheduled for the days surrounding the race.
