Trans Augrabies Stage Race : Augrabies Falls National Park, Northern Cape
The Trans Augrabies Stage Race is a two-day event featuring mountain bike, gravel bike and trail running stages in and around Augrabies Falls National Park. The race village and stage start and finish areas are located inside the park, within walking distance of the park chalets. Accommodation availability typically opens about nine months in advance through SANParks.
Multiple race formats and stage options are offered to accommodate different preferences and distances. E-bikes may participate but are not eligible for podium prizes.
Race options include:
- MTB 2-Stages - 172 km (ST1 82 km, ST2 90 km)
- Gravel 2-Stages - 208 km (ST1 118 km, ST2 90 km)
- e-MTB 2-Stages - 172 km
- MTB Mini - 65 km (ST1 30 km, ST2 35 km)
- Trail Run - 43 km (two stages)
- Single-stage entries for selected stages
The event uses a handicap timekeeping system for the MTB race that reduces actual race time by a percentage based on age and gender to produce a handicap time. This system is intended to equalize performance across age and gender categories.
The event includes a charity auction with proceeds allocated to rural disaster relief through Red ’n Plaas and to the Honorary Rangers who support conservation in the Augrabies region. Optional add-ons include event apparel, meal packages, sports massages and bike service packages. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
