Trail of Hope 5K Challenge - Overview

The Awareness Warriors Foundation organizes the 2nd Annual Trail of Hope 5K Challenge at Father Charles M. McNaboe Park in Laredo, TX during Suicide Prevention Month. The event was created to honor veterans lost to suicide and to support individuals facing mental health challenges, isolation, and hopelessness.

The main event is a team-based 5K challenge with obstacles and mission stations that encourage communication, trust, support, and resilience. Participants are released in heats and teams are formed on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration options include Warrior (individual), Battle Buddy (pair), and a separate Guardian of Hope 1K walk.

  • 5K team challenge with obstacles and mission stations
  • 1K Guardian of Hope walk, obstacle-free and open to all ages

Participation requirements specify that the 5K is open to ages 10 and older; participants ages 10–12 must be accompanied by a participating parent or legal guardian. Minors under 18 must have a signed parent or guardian waiver and permission form. While times may be recorded, the event is not centered on competition or awards.

On-site features include a community resource and wellness village with mental health and veteran organizations, a fitness and activity zone, a vehicle showcase, and food vendors. Free parking is available. Registration fees are non-refundable unless the organizer cancels; proceeds support the foundation's suicide prevention awareness initiatives, community outreach, future events, and related programs. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
