Trail del Marganai - Routes
Trail del Marganai is scheduled for 6 7 March 2027 and takes place in the Marganai state forest and the wider Linas/Marganai/Fluminese area in southwest Sardinia, within the province of Carbonia-Iglesias. The event comprises multiple trail races that run through woodland, abandoned mining villages and areas of archaeological interest, and touches the territories of Buggerru, Fluminimaggiore, Iglesias and Domusnovas.
The forest is part of the project "Parco naturale di Monte Linas, Marganai-Oridda, Montimannu", which extends across about 22,220 hectares and includes parts of Domusnovas, Fluminimaggiore, Gonnosfanadiga, Iglesias and Villacidro. Routes pass near the Tempio di Antas, a Punic-Roman temple dedicated to Sardus Pater, and through zones with Nuragic-era remains such as tombs and hut foundations.
A route map identifies the courses by color: blue for the 100 km, red for the 47 km, green for the 25 km and yellow for the 17 km. In respect of the environment, the event adheres to the campaign "IO NON GETTO I MIEI RIFIUTI"; course markings use high-visibility tape that is removed after the event.
