Historical Trail Running in the Grappa Massif
The Trail degli Eroi celebrates its 15th edition, offering a route that connects sport with the historical heritage of the First World War. Located in the Grappa Massif between the provinces of Vicenza, Treviso, and Belluno, the event takes participants across the ridges of Cima Grappa. The course follows original sections of the Great War trenches and the Alta Via degli Eroi.
The main route starts and finishes at the Sacello della Madonna di Valle Santa Felicita in Romano d'Ezzelino. The terrain consists of narrow forest paths, mule tracks, and technical single tracks. Participants pass through significant locations including Campo Croce, the Cima Grappa ossuary at 1,775 m, and the Sentiero delle Meatte. The final section crosses the Asoloni Mountains before descending back into the valley.
The event offers several race categories:
- Trail degli Eroi: A 46 km course with a positive elevation gain of 2,500 m. This race has a maximum time limit of 11 hours and includes three refreshment stations plus one at the finish.
- Sky degli Eroi: A technical mountain running race focusing on the nature of the massif.
- Down Hill degli Eroi: A high-speed technical descent race.
- Santa Felicita degli Eroi: A non-competitive 14 km walk with limited elevation gain, requiring no medical certificate.
- Mini Trail degli Eroi: A dedicated event for children and families.
Mandatory equipment is required for the competitive distances as specified in the race regulations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
